For a landmark birthday, it’s got to be a landmark city.
For Salman Khan, then, Dubai is where he’s chosen to celebrate his 45th birthday, so he can kick back and relax.
The star posted a message to his fans on his Twitter page on Sunday: "On ma way to dubai. Wish u all a v happy new year."
Khan normally spends the big day with family at his farmhouse in Panvel outside Mumbai, but this year, he has flown into the shiny emirate with 45 of his friends.
"Salman didn't want to bring in his birthday at the farmhouse this time. Though it rocks for the guests, his family members end up playing hosts and don't enjoy themselves. So, he decided to have them party without the headache of taking care of everyone," sources in Bollywood told media in Mumbai.
It’s an idea he got from childhood friend and fashion designer Anna Singh, who celebrated her 40th birthday with a thumping party at the Raffles hotel last December. “Dubai is convenient, it’s close to India and everything’s set up for you there – it’s a great escape for a short break for the Bollywood crowd,” another of our sources said.
And for Khan, the emirate is his second home. The actor is no stranger to Dubai, nipping in regularly for everything from a bit of shopping to the occasional plastic surgery.
Salman, his parents Salim and Salma besides Helen, his sisters Arpita, Alvira with husband Atul Agnihotri and brother Sohail with wife Seema and son Nirvaan arrived in the UAE on Sunday.
The source added: "We have planned a special surprise for him on his birthday. Though he knows that we are all in Dubai, we want to make it very special for him this year."
Sajid Nadiadwala and his wife Wardha and David Dhawan flew in yesterday afternoon. The guests are all staying at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai."
Khan is set to fly back on December 30 to continue work on the TV show ‘Bigg Boss’.
